Waiting 04:56
I see that you're moving baby, I know how that feels I hope you can keep it going I know it's for real But if you find that you're just sitting alone And if your mind starts wondering, thinking of home Thinking of home... well you know I'm waiting, I'm waiting ,you know I'm waiting for you Waiting here for you And I don't mind how long it takes you to fllow your fate I can just sit here knowing I just have to wait, And when your mind starts wondering, thinking of home When you find that your just sitting alone, sitting alone, .. well you know I'm waiting, I'm waiting ,you know I'm waiting for you Waiting here for you

When I came to the city I was seventeen Everything looking just like in a dream, yes it was. I made a little money and I drank a lot of wine Met some really cool people had some wild times, yes it was, Now everyone's going to Copenhagen and I'm stuck here alone, The dream is over, I think it's time to go home. I met all the people and saw all the faces Heard a lot of fine stories how they were going places I believed it then And the guys who went off to live in the woods Said they were leaving the city for good You know they're back again And I guess it's the same in Copenhagen and in Amsterdam and Rome, The dream is over, it's time to go home. I'm getting sick and tired of being out on the street I've got to work all day to get back on my feet, and get away The wine's gone sour and the money's getting slow Everybody's talking about how it used to flow Yesterday Everyday I go down in the subway I'm still standing on that stone The dream is over, it's time to go home.

Instrumental 01:53
It's all about the instrumental She was instrumental in doing it that way, Without words, without words.

Lying there next to the swimming pool She kicks off her shoes and reads a magazine I've been travelling just for her and I Still won't remember all the things I've seen Though she can't see my eyes, She doesn't seem to recognise me as I bend down and offer her a glass Five years I've been looking for her Most of the time I was on my own, Then I saw her there looking just like she did, I knew right away I was almost home Though I can't see her eyes, she doesn't seem to be be surprised And she says, no thank you I don't Five years can really turn a man inside out But I swear that to look at I haven't changed all that much She's got no reason to pretend not to know We parted as friends we said we'd keep in touch keep in touch Then it suddenly dawned up on me, that the woman I could see was not the one, No she was not the one at all Just like both the times it happened before The resemblance was amazing I was completely taken in and I wonder when they're gonna send the next one along and if the five years has yet to begin and if the day will ever come When I finally catch up with the one who keeps me from going back to where I came from Lying there next to the swimming pool....

Century 03:43
⌛️On the first day of the century my little girl came up to me she said daddy what changes will we see in this new century 🕍And the church bells were ringing, the prophets were singing, the people were swimming around in the world of what shall be. I said back in 67 I was still as young as you, and though I knew the answers there was nothing I could do. And there was a singer, But his name I don't recall. He told all the children that the rain was soon to fall So we sat and closed our eyes and counted 82 and then when we open them we could see nothing that was new. Now I'm nearly 60 and there's not much more to do. All I've got to live for as my love and hope for you You see I've been right through all these things I've seen they're all the same but still the poets tell me that I couldn't feel their pain. Little girl since your mother died, I guess I've grown a little cold inside. Little girl this is your century go ahead now don't look back at me Little girl I hope you keep that smile, go out and do whatever seems to you to be worthwhile Little girl this is your century 🌟

This tune doesn't have any lyrics because it's an instrumental, which is why it is called "Intsrumental". In all of my songs the guitar part is instrumental to the music but in most there is a vocal part as well. That's not the case this time.

Are you coming home girl the war is over it's time to rearrange the fragments that remain SO COME ON HOME GIRL We'd like TO SEE YOU AND I FEEL it won't be, BE CAN'T BE VERY LONG I'VE HEARD THE BIRDS HAVE STARTED NESTING ON THE CLIFFS AGAIN AND THE DEBRIS ON THE BEACHES IS BEING WASHED AWAY SO COME ON HOME GIRL the war is over Living STARTS AGAIN toDAY You've been gone split between the dangers fighting for which ever side is looking down Falling out, or maybe just falling, Falling for slogans and sympathetic eyes Last night the lights were shining all over the town again And the the children outside laughing like they never been away so come on home girl the war is over loving starts again today

about

"Century" is the final and the best of the Andy Roberts Tapes 3 volumes.

The collection combines four current favourites to play with two guitar instrumentals and four rarites which would have been lost in the mist of time if it hadn't been for the miraculous rediscovery of the original Tapes at the bottom of a moving house box.

Moving up to second base alongside Puddles and Mazet, Century is out just before Christmas on the same day as a subscriber-only offering containing no fewer than 21 classic Loudon Wainwright covers.

"Waiting" is a 12 string descending bass song with two distinct moods and three changes.

The "Dream Is Over" has spoken to people who travelled across Europe in the 70s.

Searching For Venus tells a strongly visual story

and "The War Is Over" tells of reunion and reconciliation for all times.

Two very different 12 string guitar instrumentals demonstrate versatile dexterity styles and tunings and the remaining four songs will reveal unknown gems to expand the oevre even further.

About the Tapes Albums:

A much younger Andy Roberts voice but also younger guitar playing fingers, singing most of the back catalogue of original songs up until 1980. So early Cornish songs, all the Paris songs and even a couple of Dover songs. These are reasonably high quality stereo recordings made in 1980 on chrome dioxide cassette using a high end portable stereo recorder, originally digitised in 2005. Many of the songs are still in the repertoire but will have mutated somewhat over the years, so this is a chance to go back in history and hear what they sounded like nearer to the time when they were written. The Guild 12 string guitar is sounding nice and the six string used at that time would have been my much missed Japanese Epiphone.
